
Welcome to the Tri-Central Middle/High School website! My name is Adam D. Long and I am the Principal at Tri-Central Middle/High School. Tri-Central MS/HS is a 1A school district consisting of a 6-8 Middle and a 9-12 High School building. TCMHS is a top-ranked school corporation earning #13 in the State of Indiana by US News and World Report. It has also earned recognition by the State of Indiana for having 33.9% of graduates earning a 3 or higher on an Advance Placement (AP) exam in 2018.
TCMS offers STEM/STEAM and Computer Science classes to all 6-8th grade students. Students will be working with VEX Robotics, Electronic Circuits, Trebuchets, Hovercrafts, 3-D Printing, Drones, Coding, Tinker Cad, and doing research on Green Energy sources. The districts 5-acre Solar Field is running efficiently across the street from the High School and is a great resource for real life application and data collection. Tri-Central MHS is also in the process of earning STEM certification.
The Middle/High School is also approved to offer the Governor’s Work Ethic Certificate (WEC). This program partners with local businesses to provide incentives for students who master and exhibit soft-skills throughout their time in high school. As a graduating Senior, students can earn a WEC in addition to their diploma. This Certificate identifies a student as going above and beyond normal requirements for graduation and exhibiting the attributes employers are looking for in new hires. In order to earn the certificate, students are evaluated on their ability to exhibit the attributes of PRIDE. Personal Best, Respect, Integrity, Dependability, and Enthusiasm. This program requires students to maintain a 98% attendance rate, a 2.0 GPA, and a minimum of 6 hours of community service throughout their Senior year. The WEC also meets the requirements for the new Graduation Pathways.
Tri-Central High School offers Core 40, Academic Honors, and Technical Honors diplomas. Students have various AP(Chemistry III, Environmental Science, Biology, Physics, Calculus, United States History, World History, 2-D Art, and Student Drawing), Dual Credit (Chemistry II, English 11, English 12), and also Vocational opportunities through the Kokomo and Hinds Career Centers and Ivy Tech Community College. One of those programs, Intro to Manufacturing and Advanced Manufacturing allow students the ability to apply to intern at FCA Chrysler in Tipton their Senior year. Tri-Central also has a top-notch Fine Arts department offering Choir, Multiple Art Courses, and Band/Marching Band/Color Guard.
TCMHS also provides numerous extra-curricular opportunities for students. There are various clubs (Key, SADD, NHS, Student Council, FCA, World War II, Aristocratic Society, SAGA), Cheer Block, School Musicals and Plays, and a variety of Athletic teams: Boys and Girls Soccer, Golf, Cross-Country, Volleyball, Cheerleading, Football, Basketball, Wrestling, Track and Field, Softball, and Baseball. There is something for any student to get involved with.
